BORDER REOPEN

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will reopen its borders to international travellers starting April 1, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Tuesday (March 8).

Visitors and Malaysian returnees who are fully vaccinated, according to the Prime Minister, are not required to undergo quarantine upon arrival.

However, they must undergo a RT-PCR test two days before departure and a rapid test (RTK) upon arrival.

Ismail Sabri added that Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will explain the entry procedures to travellers who have not been fully vaccinated on Wednesday (March 9).

The government has decided to reopen the country's borders on April 1 as part of our "Transitioning to Endemicity" phase.

"This action will help to revive the country's economy, particularly the tourism sector, which has been severely impacted by the pandemic."

"The decision is based on current science and facts on Covid-19, as well as the reopening of borders in other countries."

"The country also aims to provide comfort to travellers and make the travel process as simple as possible."

"Most importantly," Ismail Sabri said at a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday, "Malaysia is now a destination that is open and accessible to everybody."

For foreign travellers arriving into Malaysia, they are no longer required to apply through MyTravelPass.

According to Ismail Sabri, they only need to download the MySejahtera app and fill out a pre-departure form.
